Networking and professional development are essential building blocks to a successful career, whichever field you are in. London Tax Society is a forum for Young Professionals to develop their technical and networking skills and the events are specifically aimed at those with an interest in tax and up to 10 years of post-qualified experience.

LTS was set up in late 2017, with our first event taking place in February 2018. We bring junior members of the tax, legal and finance professions together and give them access to tax experts. Details of our past speakers and events can be found here.

LTS is sponsored by London Tax Network, a tax investigations specialist firm with an active interest in promoting tax knowledge to the wider audience and in providing opportunities for Young Professionals to develop their networks for a solid foundation to successful careers.

We are always on the look out for new speakers, topics and events hosts so if you have any comments or suggestions, please Contact Us or email events@londontaxsociety.com.

Our Team

Mala graduated with a 1st class honours degree from Imperial College, London and is a fluent Italian speaker. She did her Chartered Accountancy training, is a Chartered Tax Adviser, and works in Tax Investigations.

Mala trained as an accountant with a top ten professional services firm where she worked in the tax investigations department and gained experience in a wide range of personal and corporate taxes.

Since the beginning of her career, she recognised the importance of networking, but didn’t always enjoy it; Mala established LTS in 2017 after realising she wasn’t the only one. Many young professionals did not enjoy or attend mainstream networking events. Discussions with friends and colleagues confirmed that often the technical topics went far beyond what a junior adviser could follow with ease. It was also made clear that for those who wanted to network, the typical demographic of attendees (“not-so-young” Professionals) was offputting.

Mala is proof that networking works! She set up her own tax investigations specialist firm, London Tax Network Ltd, in 2019 and has used her networking skills to develop her client base.

The London Tax Society provides a great opportunity for young tax professionals to build their network within the industry. The seminars are well organised and relevant in content, delivered by well-known and respected tax experts. The women’s networking events organised by Mala are equally enjoyable. The most memorable so far has been at Lucy Choi’ store. These events are a unique opportunity to meet likeminded women and inspirational female entrepreneurs.

Lerona Waskar, Tax Manager

Mala was a finalist for “Best Rising Star in Tax” as part of Tolleys Taxation Awards 2020. The Awards are known for identifying excellence in tax. Being shortlisted demonstrates Mala’s commitment to the tax profession as well as her technical excellence as supported by testimonials from clients and other tax experts.

The LTS is a well run series of events giving the opportunity for young tax professionals to further their development and understanding of key areas within the current developing market. Personally I have found the evening network which follows the seminars very good, having allowed me to make connections with people within different markets and to discuss certain topics more thoroughly. I would highly recommend the LTS to anyone

The LTS is a fantastic opportunity and Mala deserves much praise from the tax community for all she has done to promote it. I hope other members of the profession will be able to give their time to address young people interested in tax.
